States Premium mare Malena stands 16.3 hands and is a bold and expressive mover with three lovely, ground covering gaits. She has a very friendly and affectionate temperament
Malena obtained an overall "8" (almost all 8's, a few 7's) at her inspection in Germany. She was also shown in-hand winning 1a prizes in Germany. At her Mare Performance Test in Germany, she received the score of 8 for her gaits and rideability.
Malena descends from an exceptional, highly regarded and performance oriented dam-line that has produced approved stallions (Frenchman I & II), and successful performance horses. Many famous State Premium mares and DLG CHampions also descend from her motherline including SPS Worms (dam of Argentan I & II) and DLG Goldlady. Malena's dam Wonne is a full sister to the Approved Hanoverian stallion Western Star who stood at the State Stud in Celle. Western Star has produced more than 36 State Premium daughters and 5 Approved sons including the Approved Hanoverian stallion and Grand Prix competitor, Weyden (aka Jonggor's Weyden), who won the Silver and Bronze medal at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.
Malena’s sire Maurice (Matcho/SPS Garibaldi II) stood at the State Stud in Celle. Maurice won his Stallion Licensing in 1988 with excellent gaits (9's for walk, trot and canter) including best character and scored very well (122,59 points) at his Stallion Performance Test in 1989. He is the sire of one approved son, 17 State Premium mares and more than 243 competition horses. In 1998 Maurice was imported to Canada where he went on to win numerous Championships and Reserves including winning the Prix St. Georges in Bloomfield, Michigan. In 2003, Maurice was long listed for the Canadian Dressage Team.
Malena has produced 8 foals by Cordoba, DeNiro, Pablito, Fred Astair and Fielding. Foals produced by AHF include (click on name to visit their webpage):
Before her untimely demise, her Cordoba filly in Germany in turn produced an Elite Auction foal. Her Pablito filly "Peri" recently scored a 7.33 at her marebook grading and is now Elite Eligible. Her filly Fontyn scored an outstanding 7.83 at her inspection, leaving her in the top five mares inspected by the AHS that year.
We could not be more pleased with her Fielding foals, Fabrizzio in 2010 and Francheska in 2011. Possibly the best of her offspring.
We are thrilled to add this decorated and elegant mare to our breeding program and are deeply indebted to Pam Talbot and Westbrook Hanoverians for this exciting opportunity.
